The Committee on Economic Development and Statistics
accompanies the work of the Department of Economic and Statistic Affairs and supports the work of the Board of Chairmen on special request. The Committee consists of professional and experienced representatives of VDMA members (regular members), representatives of other associations as well as co - workers of other VDMA divisions (both with guest status).
Its work concentrates on the analysis and discussions of the economic situation of the mechanical engineering industry and its sectors, especially on questions and tasks concerning business cycle analysis and policy including short-term forecasts. Since the Department of Economic and Statistic Affairs constantly broadens the range of topics with respect to subject area and countries covered, the focus of the Committee’s work more and more shifts from the business activity of the national mechanical engineering industry to the international economic situation of the mechanical engineering industry. For VDMA’s economic commitment in Berlin and Brussels requires analysis, interpretation and thus also content-related discussion of economic developments and economic relations in a political context.
